Full Itinerary

Upon arrival at the airport, a driver will pick you up and will transfer you to your accommodation.

This tour will take us from Salta through the province of Jujuy, allowing us to explore and visit its charming landscapes and villages while traveling through nearly 10,000 years of history.

From south to north, the Quebrada de Humahuaca begins in Volcán, where the mountains abruptly abandon their greenery and give way to ochre and brown mountain ranges. Following the course of the Río Grande, we arrive at the town of Tumbaya, home to its beautiful church built in 1796. Taking a detour along National Route No. 52, we enter Purmamarca, a town of legends and singers, which has a church dedicated to Saint Rose of Lima dating back to 1648.

The town of Purmamarca was built at the foot of the internationally renowned “Hill of Seven Colors.” The journey continues through Tilcara. Further north, after passing through Huacalera and the Tropic of Capricorn, we reach Uquía, whose church holds one of the most important collections of the famous “Arquebusier Angels,” emblematic examples of Cusco painting.

The city of Humahuaca, the very heart of the Quebrada, awaits visitors with an abundance of natural, historical, and cultural attractions.

We start the day with our journey to the first ”Salt Flat”, the great Salinas Grandes. We will arrive here crossing the Cuesta de Lipan, A winding mountain road that separates Purmamarca from the Salinas Grandes and ascends at its highest point to 4170 meters above sea level. It is convenient to stop at some viewpoints to observe the tortuous path of the route and how it ascends and descends. Once we arrive we will go to our Luxury Pristine Camp.

Enjoy the day!

Do some activities with the guides in the Camp, like hiking, see the stars at night, navigate this amazing place!

Start the day early in the morning to return with our local guide-driver and cross to Chile. After some hours of journey we will arrive in San Pedro de Atacama in Chile. Its spectacular surrounding landscape includes desert, salt flats, volcanoes, geysers and hot springs. Valle de la Luna in Los Flamencos National Reserve is a moon-like depression with unusual rock formations, a massive sand dune, and pink-spotted mountains.

On this day you will visit the impressive Atacama Salt Flats, Jerez Valley, Chaxa Lagoon and Toconao, a town built from volcanic rock.

On this tour we visit the Atacama Salt Flats, where the Los Flamencos Natural Reserve is located, a surprisingly large and arid landscape stretching 100 km from north to south. You can also marvel at the amazing Chaxa Lagoon, a spectacularly beautiful setting, which is split into various clear water lagoons, inhabited by both Andean and James flamingos. We then head to Toconao, a traditionally colonial-style village, famous for the bell tower of the San Lucas church, which has been declared as a National Monument. Agriculture and crafts are the principal source of income for its inhabitants who offer proudly crafted gifts made from volcanic rock.

We will travel towards the High Andean plains early in the morning and after an almost 2-hour ride we will reach one of the most important geothermal fields in the world, the “Tatio Geysers”. We will learn about different geothermal manifestations and see the geysers located at the highest altitude in the world, 4,320 meters (14,173 feet) above sea level. Surrounded by spurts of water and vapor, we will enjoy the beauty of the Andes in its natural scenery. We will then visit “Pozón Rústico”, where you will delight in the thermal waters the mountain range provides for us. Taking the road back to San Pedro de Atacama, you will see the beautiful landscape, as well as native plants and wildlife, such as the Andean Feather Grass, the “Tolares” (shrublands), and the Vicuñas. We will also observe different bird species at the Putana bog, such as the Giant Coot, the Andean Goose, and the Crested Duck.

We will continue our journey accompanied at all times by the majestic Andes Mountains, until finally coming to a stop at the Machuca village, an ancient place of llama herders and extraction of llareta (a compact plant) and sulfur. This town with houses built with adobe, straw and cactus wood is nowadays focused on tourism, offering local products such as Andean handicrafts, male llama meat, sopaipillas (fried bread) and empanadas (filled turnovers). Every year, on July 25, the village celebrates Saint James, its patron, which is also the name of the church that dates from the XVIII and is a symbol of the High Andes in this region.

Departure from San Pedro de Atacama and we will be transferred to Hito Cajón Border Crossing.

The next attraction is the particular Red Lagoon, unique for its abundance of algae and plankton, which give it its color and have it populated with flamingos, including the James flamingo that was thought to be extinct. Picnic lunch on route.

As the last attraction of the day, you will visit the Siloli Desert, one of the driest deserts in the world characterized by having rock formations in the middle of the changing dunes and the gateway to the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve, the most visited national park in Bolivia.
