Puerto Madryn, city of whales! From this city you can explore Valdes Peninsula and in whale season you will embark on a navigation to come to its observation. It is also the basis to go to Punta Tombo, one of the largest colonies of Magellanic penguins.
Arrival at Trelew airport and transfer to the hotel in Puerto Madryn.
We depart from the city of Puerto Madryn, heading south along National Route No. 3 (almost 190 km of paved road) toward the Punta Tombo Nature Reserve, the most important penguin colony in the Americas.
Upon arrival, we will pay the entrance fee and visit the interpretation center, where we can observe the local wildlife and learn everything necessary to enter the reserve and understand the behavior of the penguins.
After leaving the interpretation center, a minibus will take us to the beginning of the trails, where our walk of approximately 1.5 to 2 km begins.
At the end of the walk, we can have lunch at the reserve’s café before starting our return journey to the city, making a stop in Gaiman, a town located along the banks of the Chubut River.
This is an old Welsh colony set in a unique landscape of tree-lined plots, rugged cliffs, and rock faces marked by erosion.
We then continue our journey back to Puerto Madryn.
We will pick you up very early to begin to explore the nature reserves and the most outstanding tourist spots in the Peninsula Valdés Protected Area, including the Istmo Ameghino Interpretation Center, Bird Island, the colony of sea lions at Punta Pirámides, the tourist village of Puerto Pirámides, from where whale watching cruises take place (from June to December), the Salinas Chica and Grande (which are among the largest depressions in America), the coastal elephant seal colonies at Punta Delgada, Caleta Valdés and Punta Cantor, as well as arriving at the Punta Norte Lighthouse during the Orca season.
On the tour we will have the opportunity to see a lot of terrestrial fauna such as guanacos, maras, foxes, armadillos and choiques. Throughout the day you will be advised by our guides, expert interpreters of Patagonian nature.
It operates all year round, with the itinerary and reserves visited varying according to the seasonality of the fauna. Whale watching is only available from August to early December each year.
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
