This family trip will make you experience the life of a gaucho in the great Patagonian countryside. You will be part of unique activities offered by the steppe around the city of Calafate, cradle of the magnificent Perito Moreno Glacier.
Arrival in El Calafate and transfer to your accommodation.
Rest of the day at leisure.
Depart from El Calafate for Bajo la Sombra port, located eight km before Perito Moreno Glacier. Once there, you will embark to cross the Rico lake, and disembark at the southwestern coast after 20 minutes of navigation.
Then, you will access a refuge, where the guides organize the groups of up to 20 people, and soon a walk by the forest begins to arrive at the glacier. Before accessing the ice, the guides will put the crampons on your shoes. The trekking on the glacier takes approximately one hour and a half during which you will be able to see crevasses, moulins (glacier mills) and small lagoons. The walk difficulty is moderate, on irregular ice surfaces, but firm and safe.
Return to the port by boat includes an up-close view of the glacier face.
Transfer to the ”Estancia Nibepo Aike”. It allows one to know the history of the estancia, admire the gaucho skills and demonstrate shearing. Before lunch, a walk or horseback ride to the narrows where the Roca Lake drains into the Argentino Lake, culminating the program with the renowned lamb roast.
